Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What filter is the Aqueon X-Small Replacement Filter Cartridge compatible with?

Ans: The Aqueon X-Small Replacement Filter Cartridge is designed to fit the Aqueon QuietFlow E Internal Power Filter Size 3, which is intended for smaller aquariums up to about 3 gallons in overall size, such as nano tanks or desktop setups.

Q2: How often should I replace this filter cartridge?

Ans: Aqueon recommends replacing this filter cartridge approximately every 4 weeks. Regular replacement helps keep the activated carbon working effectively supporting clean, clear aquarium water and consistent filtration performance for your small fish tank over the long term and daily use.

Q3: How do I install the X-Small filter cartridge?

Ans: Rinse the new cartridge under cold water, then align its bottom key slot with the filter slot and install it using the FRONT orientation tab for a secure, properly aligned, accurate fit inside the small filter housing unit each time you replace it.

Q4: Does this cartridge include a Bio-Holster for beneficial bacteria?

Ans: No. The Aqueon QuietFlow E Internal Power Filter Size 3 unit does not include a sponge, sponge holder or biological cartridge holster, so this cartridge relies mainly on mechanical and chemical filtration rather than a separate, dedicated biological filtration stage inside the unit.

Q5: What size cartridge pack does this come in?

Ans: The Aqueon X-Small Replacement Filter Cartridge is sold in a 3 pack, giving you enough cartridges on hand to keep up with the recommended replacement schedule of about every 4 weeks for several months of regular filter maintenance and use.

Q6: What makes these cartridges different from other Aqueon replacement cartridges?

Ans: These cartridges are dual-sided with dense floss and contain over 25% more activated carbon than leading brands. The X-Small size is specifically built to fit the compact Aqueon QuietFlow E Internal Power Filter Size 3, made specifically for small aquarium setups.

Q7: Are these cartridges compatible with larger Aqueon filters, too?

Ans: No. The X-Small cartridge is sized specifically for the Aqueon QuietFlow E Internal Power Filter Size 3, so larger filters require the small, medium or large replacement cartridges instead for a proper, secure fit and effective filtration performance in every tank size.
