Product Description

Calf-Manna is a high-protein, palatable nutrition pellet supplement for horses, cattle, goats, rabbits, swine, poultry, and deer at all life stages. Built on soybean meal, corn, dried whey, and linseed meal, with brewers yeast for palatability and digestion, and anise oil and fenugreek seed for the distinctive sweet aroma that encourages animals to eat. Top-dress on existing feed or feed as-is. In continuous use for more than 80 years.

Benefits

  • High-Quality Protein for Growth: Soybean meal and dried whey deliver high-quality protein and essential amino acids, including lysine and methionine for muscle growth and tissue development.
  • Digestible Carbs for Energy: Corn and hominy feed provide readily digestible carbohydrates that supply concentrated energy for weight gain, vitality, and performance across all listed species.
  • Linseed Meal for Coat Condition: Linseed meal contributes protein and oil that support a shinier, healthier coat in horses, cattle, goats, and other species that benefit from dietary fat.
  • Brewers Yeast for Palatability: Brewers dried yeast improves the taste and palatability of the supplement, encourages earlier intake of dry feed, and supports efficient digestion of other nutrients.
  • Anise and Fenugreek for Acceptance: Anise oil and fenugreek seed create the distinctive sweet aroma that makes Calf-Manna highly appealing to animals of all ages and species during stressful periods.

NOTE: These feeding instructions are intended as general guidelines. Feeding amounts may need to be adjusted based on the individual animal's specific needs and condition.

Disclaimer: Product information and usage guidelines are provided by the manufacturer. Always use products as directed on the label and consult your veterinarian before use if you have any concerns regarding your pet’s health.

Directions for Use

  • Top-dress or feed as-is: Sprinkle the measured daily amount over the animal's existing feed as a top-dressing, or feed the supplement on its own from a bucket or trough.
  • Use the species-specific chart: Each species and production class has a different daily amount; always reference the feeding chart to confirm the correct amount for each animal being supplemented.
  • Adjust based on body condition: The feeding chart is a starting guideline; increase or decrease the daily amount based on the animal's response, body condition score, and individual needs.
  • Crumble for poultry if needed: For young or small mature poultry, crumble the pellets before feeding to ensure every bird can consume the supplement without difficulty.

Additional Information

Precautions

  • Supplemented with copper: Do not feed to sheep or other animals sensitive to copper under any circumstances; excess copper causes serious toxicity in sheep and similar animals.
  • Do not feed spoiled product: Never offer moldy, rodent-infested, insect-infested, or abnormal-smelling feed; spoiled feed can cause serious illness or death across all species.
  • Not a milk replacer: Calf-Manna is a nutrition supplement and is not formulated as a milk replacer; it can be fed alongside animals also receiving milk replacer but does not substitute for it.
  • Adjust dose individually: The feeding chart provides general guidelines; individual animals may need more or less depending on their specific health status, production stage, and access to other feed.

Storage Information

  • Cool and dry location: Store in a cool area away from direct sun exposure and temperature extremes for the stability of the vitamin and mineral content.
  • Keep away from pests: Store in a sealed, rodent-proof container or location; grain-based supplements attract insects and rodents, and contaminated feed must never be fed to any animal.
  • Reseal after each use: Close the bag securely after every feeding to prevent moisture and air from entering and degrading the palatability and nutritional quality of the supplement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is Calf-Manna and what animals can it be fed to?

Ans: Calf-Manna is a high-protein pellet supplement in use for more than 80 years. It is formulated for horses, cattle, goats, rabbits, swine, poultry, and deer at all life stages, growth, performance, lactation, gestation, and maintenance. One product covers the full range of farm and homestead species.

Q2: Why does Calf-Manna smell different from other supplements?

Ans: The distinctive sweet aroma comes from anise oil and fenugreek seed, both included specifically to make the supplement highly palatable and appealing to animals of all ages and species. This aroma also helps maintain feed intake during stressful periods, including travel, illness, and environmental changes.

Q3: Can Calf-Manna be fed to sheep?

Ans: No. Calf-Manna contains supplemental copper, which is toxic to sheep and other copper-sensitive species even at levels that are normal and safe for other animals. Keep it away from sheep at all times. The label includes a clear warning not to feed it to sheep or other copper-sensitive species.

Q4: Can Calf-Manna be used to help underweight animals gain condition?

Ans: Yes. The high protein from soybean meal and dried whey supports muscle development, and the digestible carbohydrates from corn and hominy feed provide concentrated energy for weight gain.

Q5: How does brewers yeast contribute to this formula?

Ans: Brewers dried yeast improves the palatability of the supplement, encourages younger animals to start eating dry feed earlier and more consistently, and supports efficient digestion of other nutrients in the ration. Including it alongside the anise and fenugreek further strengthens the overall feed acceptance of this supplement.

Q6: What does linseed meal do for the coat?

Ans: Linseed meal, also called flaxseed meal, is included for its protein and oil content. The natural oils in linseed meal are deposited in the skin and hair follicle, adding sheen and luster to the coat of horses, cattle, goats, and other species. It is one of the traditional coat-conditioning ingredients in equine and livestock nutrition.

Q7: Can Calf-Manna be fed alongside a milk replacer?

Ans: Yes. Calf-Manna is not a milk replacer and does not substitute for one. It can be fed alongside animals that are still receiving milk replacer as a supplemental source of protein, vitamins, and minerals.
