Product Description

Salix® Injectable is a diuretic that possesses a wide range of therapeutic uses. It promotes rapid eradication of extracellular fluid that has been retained abnormally. The reason behind using this medication as a diuretic treatment are based on the edema-producing pathology. The therapeutic effectiveness of Salix® comes from the action of the unaltered, intact molecule within the nephron, which inhibits sodium reabsorption in the ascending Henle loop and the distal and proximal tubule.

Salix® is a highly effective diuretic-saluretic which if given in excessive amounts may result in dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Therefore, the dosage and schedule may have to be adjusted to the patient’s needs. The animal should be observed for early signs of electrolyte imbalance, and corrective measures administered. Early signs of electrolyte imbalance are: increased thirst, lethargy, drowsiness or restlessness, fatigue, oliguria, gastro-intestinal disturbances and tachycardia. Special attention should be given to potassium levels.

Store between 59° and 86°F. Protect from freezing. Protect from light. Use contents within 28 days of first vial puncture.
