Surpass Topical Cream for Horses

Osteoarthritis Medication for Horses

Surpass Topical Cream is a highly effective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) specifically formulated for horses.

Designed to alleviate pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and soft tissue injuries, Surpass provides targeted relief directly at the site of discomfort.

Unlike systemic NSAIDs, which can cause widespread side effects, Surpass delivers diclofenac sodium precisely where it’s needed, ensuring fast-acting relief with minimal systemic exposure.

This cream is an essential tool for maintaining your horse’s comfort and mobility, allowing them to perform at their best, whether in training, competition, or daily activities.

What are the Benefits of Surpass Topical Cream?

  • Localized Pain Relief: The targeted application minimizes systemic exposure, reducing the risk of side effects commonly associated with oral NSAIDs.
  • Rapid Absorption: The cream is quickly absorbed into the skin, delivering fast-acting relief to affected joints and tissues.
  • Proven Effectiveness: Clinically tested and proven to reduce lameness in horses suffering from osteoarthritis.
  • Convenient Application: Easy to apply with no need for bandaging, making it ideal for stable and field use.
  • Reduces Recovery Time: Surpass helps reduce recovery time from injuries and chronic conditions by addressing inflammation directly at the source.
  • Prevents Further Injury: Consistent use can help manage chronic conditions and prevent further injury by keeping inflammation under control.

What are the Ingredients in Surpass Topical Cream?

  • Primary Ingredient: Diclofenac Sodium - 1%
  • Secondary Ingredients: Hydroxyethyl cellulose, oleyl alcohol, propylene glycol, and purified water.

How It Works for Horse Osteoarthritis Medication?

Surpass Topical Cream works by delivering the potent NSAID, diclofenac sodium, directly to the site of inflammation. This method ensures that the active ingredient penetrates deeply into the tissues, reducing inflammation and pain without oral medication, which can lead to gastrointestinal and other systemic side effects.

How to Use Surpass Topical Cream ?

  • Use as directed by your veterinarian.
  • Apply a five-inch (5”) ribbon of SURPASS topical cream and rub it thoroughly into the hair covering the affected joint until it disappears. Use it twice daily for up to ten days.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose. Wear gloves when administering SURPASS. If direct contact with skin occurs, wash immediately with soap and water. For more information please read SURPASS Product Label.
  • NSAIDs should only be administered under the direction of a licensed professional. SURPASS topical cream is only approved for use in horses and has not been evaluated in breeding, pregnant, or lactating horses, or in horses under 1 year of age.

Frequency

Apply Surpass Topical Cream to the affected area twice daily for up to 10 days, or as directed by your veterinarian.

Consistency

Consistency in application is crucial for optimal results. Ensure that each dose is applied at the same time each day, covering the entire affected area for even distribution of the active ingredient. Regular application helps maintain the anti-inflammatory effects, leading to better management of pain and inflammation.

What are the Side Effects of Surpass Topical Cream?

While Surpass is generally well-tolerated, some horses may experience mild skin irritation at the application site. If irritation persists or worsens, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian.

Precautions

  • Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, and open wounds.
