Monthly Selamectin Spot-On for Heartworm, Fleas, Ticks and Mange in Small Dogs
Product Description
Revolt Topical Solution (Purple Box) is an FDA-approved, prescription-only monthly spot-on for dogs and puppies 6 weeks or older weighing 5.1 to 10 lbs. Each single-dose tube contains 0.25 mL (30 mg) of selamectin, which is the same active ingredient as Revolution for Dogs, providing 6-in-1 parasite protection. It prevents heartworm disease, kills adult fleas, prevents flea egg hatching, treats ear mites, treats sarcoptic mange, and controls American dog tick infestations.
Benefits
- Prevents Heartworm Disease: Selamectin prevents Dirofilaria immitis larval development into adult heartworms when administered within one month of exposure to infective larvae.
- Kills Fleas and Prevents Eggs: Kills adult Ctenocephalides felis fleas and prevents viable flea eggs from hatching for one full month, breaking the flea life cycle.
- Treats Ear Mites: Treats and controls Otodectes cynotis ear mite infestations in small dogs; a second monthly dose may be required in some dogs.
- Treats Sarcoptic Mange: Treats and controls Sarcoptes scabiei infestations in small dogs; a second monthly dose may be required in some dogs.
- Controls American Dog Ticks: Controls Dermacentor variabilis American dog tick infestations in small dogs with each monthly application.
- Waterfast After 2 Hours: Bathing or shampooing 2 or more hours after application does not reduce effectiveness against fleas or heartworm prevention.
- Safe in Avermectin-Sensitive Breeds: In avermectin-sensitive Collies, selamectin was tested at 1, 3, and 5 times the normal dose and only increased salivation was seen.
- Equivalent to Revolution for Dogs: Contains the same selamectin as Revolution for Dogs, providing equivalent protection at a more accessible price point.

- Minimum Dose: Apply topically once monthly, providing a minimum of 2.7 mg selamectin per pound (6 mg/kg) of body weight.
- Open the Tube Correctly: Hold the tube upright and twist the cap to break the seal; the cap remains on the tube during application.
- Apply at Base of Neck: Separate the hair at the neck, just before the shoulder blades, until the skin shows, and apply straight to the skin.
- Squeeze Firmly 3 to 4 Times: Squeeze the tube hard 3 to 4 times in one place until it is empty, and keep it pressed on the last squeeze to prevent liquid from going back in.
- Do Not Massage or Wet Coat: Never massage the product into the skin and never apply when the dog's coat is wet; allow to dry naturally.
- Ear Mite and Mange Dosing: For ear mites and sarcoptic mange, a single topical dose is administered; a second monthly dose may be required in some dogs.
- Apply Once Monthly Year-Round: Administer every 30 days year-round for continuous heartworm prevention and flea and tick control.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What does Revolt Topical Solution (Purple Box) treat and prevent in small dogs?
Ans: Revolt Purple Box is a once-monthly 6-in-1 topical solution that prevents heartworm disease, kills adult fleas, prevents flea egg hatching for one month, treats ear mites, treats sarcoptic mange, and controls American dog tick infestations. This is suitable for dogs and puppies aged 6 weeks and up, weighing between 5.1 and 10 lbs.
Q2: How does Revolt for Dogs differ from Revolt for Cats in terms of parasite coverage?
Ans: Both prevent heartworm, kill fleas, and treat ear mites at the same minimum dose. The dog formulation also controls American dog ticks and treats sarcoptic mange. The cat formulation additionally treats roundworms and hookworms. The two formulations must never be interchanged between species.
Q3: How does the Purple Box differ from the Brown Box?
Ans: The Purple Box contains 30 mg of selamectin in a 0.25 mL tube for small dogs. The Brown Box contains 60 mg in a 0.5 mL tube for medium dogs. Both provide identical 6-in-1 parasite protection at the same minimum dose of 2.7 mg/lb. Always use the tube matching your dog's current body weight.
Q4: Is Revolt safe for avermectin-sensitive small dog breeds such as Collies?
Ans: Topical application at 1, 3, and 5 times the recommended dose in avermectin-sensitive Collies caused only salivation with no serious adverse reactions. However, accidental oral ingestion can cause ataxia in sensitive breeds. Always take precautions to prevent licking of the application site in avermectin-sensitive dogs.
Q5: Is Revolt safe for breeding, pregnant, or lactating small dogs?
Ans: Selamectin has been tested in more than 100 dog breeds, including breeding males, pregnant and nursing females, and Collies sensitive to avermectin, with no harmful effects seen. Always consult your veterinarian before starting any new parasite prevention product in breeding animals.
