Monthly Spot-On Heartworm, Flea, and Parasite Prevention for Dogs

Product Description

Revolt (Selamectin) Topical Solution for Dogs 10.1-20 lbs (Brown Box) is an FDA-approved prescription spot-on for dogs and puppies 6 weeks and older. Each brown-box tube has 0.5 mL of 120 mg/mL selamectin, delivering 60 mg per application. Applied monthly at the base of the neck, it prevents heartworm, kills adult fleas, blocks flea egg hatching, treats ear mites and sarcoptic mange, and controls American dog ticks. Made and packed in the USA.

NOTE: For generic medications, the product image shown may not reflect the actual item received. Generic medications can vary in size, color, and shape between orders depending on the manufacturer. Additionally, your medication may arrive packaged in a HardyPaw Pharmacy vial.

Benefits

  • Heartworm Disease Prevention: Applied once a month, Revolt clears infective D. immitis larvae picked up in the past 30 days before they grow into adult worms.
  • Kills Adult Fleas: Over 98% of adult fleas were killed within 36 hours in lab studies; monthly use showed over 90% flea control within 30 days.
  • Ear Mite Control: Clears ear mite infestations with one monthly dose; a second dose may be needed in some dogs, and regular monthly use stops re-infestations.
  • Sarcoptic Mange Treatment: About 50% of dogs saw itch relief after the first dose and around 90% after a second monthly treatment for sarcoptic mange.
  • Tick Control: Controls American dog tick infestations with one monthly dose; a second dose 14 days later may be needed in cases of heavy infestation.
  • Waterfast Formula: Bathing or shampooing 2 or more hours after applying does not reduce effectiveness against fleas or heartworm, great for active dogs.
  • Safe Across Breeds: Tested safe in over 100 pure and mixed breeds including pregnant females, breeding animals, puppies from 6 weeks, and Collies sensitive to avermectin.

How to Use

Directions for Use

  • Prescription Required: Revolt is federally restricted and must only be used under a licensed veterinarian's order with a valid prescription obtained first.
  • Brown Box Dose: Apply the full contents of one 0.5 mL brown-box tube to the skin once monthly, delivering the minimum dose of 2.7 mg/lb for this weight range.
  • Open the Tube: Keep the tube pointing up, then turn the cap until it snaps and breaks the seal; there is no need to take the cap off fully.
  • Part the Fur: Separate the coat at the back of the neck just in front of the shoulders until skin shows, then firmly press and squeeze the tube 3 to 4 times in one spot.
  • Lift Before Releasing: Keep the tube pressed on the final squeeze, drag it away from the liquid spot, then lift it off to stop solution from being pulled back in.
  • Do Not Massage: Put the solution on one skin spot and leave it alone; rubbing or massaging it into the skin can reduce how well the product works.
  • Avoid Wet or Broken Skin: Never apply to a wet coat or broken skin, as the isopropyl alcohol in the formula can irritate damaged tissue.
  • Bathing After Application: Wait at least 2 hours after applying before bathing; washing the dog before that window may reduce effectiveness against fleas and heartworm.
  • Consistent Monthly Schedule: Apply once monthly year-round or starting within one month of first mosquito exposure and continuing one month past the last exposure.
  • Missed Dose: Apply the dose right away if one was missed and get back on the regular monthly schedule; let your vet know a dose was skipped.
  • Switching Products: Give the first Revolt dose within one month of the last dose of the previous heartworm product to keep protection running without a gap.

Additional Information

Precautions

  • Pre-Treatment Heartworm Test: Test dogs for heartworm before starting Revolt; any infected dog may need treatment to remove adult worms at the vet's direction.
  • No Adult Heartworm Action: Revolt clears larvae only and does not eliminate adult heartworms; it may lower microfilariae counts but is not approved for that purpose.
  • Not for Sick Dogs: Do not use on sick, weak, or underweight dogs; the dog must be in good general health before starting monthly topical treatment.
  • Minimum Age Requirement: Revolt can only be used on dogs and puppies that have turned 6 weeks old; never apply to any puppy younger than this.
  • Flammable Product: This product contains isopropyl alcohol and catches fire easily; keep away from heat, sparks, and open flames at all times.
  • Human Handling Precautions: Not for human use; keep away from skin and eyes, wash hands after use, and flush eyes for 5 to 10 minutes if accidentally exposed.

Possible Side Effects

  • Application Site Hair Loss: Temporary hair loss with or without inflammation at the treated spot is the most common reaction; stiff, clumped, or powdery hair may also appear briefly.
  • Lethargy and Vomiting: Tiredness and vomiting are among the most frequently noted post-approval reactions in dogs and are generally mild and short-lived.
  • Digestive and Skin Reactions: Loose stools, reduced appetite, drooling, itching, and skin irritation have been reported in dogs after use; keep a close eye on the dog after each dose.
  • Neurological Signs: Tremors, unsteady movement, and seizures have been reported in rare post-approval cases; get veterinary help right away if any of these appear.

Storage Information

  • Store Below 30°C: Keep Revolt below 30°C (86°F) at all times and away from heat, flames, sparks, and sunlight as the product is flammable.
  • Keep Out of Reach: Store in a locked, secure spot away from children and all animals to prevent any accidental skin contact or ingestion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What parasites does Revolt selamectin topical solution treat in dogs 10.1-20 lbs?

Ans: Revolt Brown Box prevents heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis), kills adult fleas and stops flea eggs from hatching, clears ear mites (Otodectes cynotis) and sarcoptic mange (Sarcoptes scabiei), and controls American dog tick (Dermacentor variabilis) infestations in dogs 10.1 to 20 lbs with just one monthly spot-on application.

Q2: Is Revolt the same as Revolution for dogs?

Ans: Yes. Revolt (Aurora Pharmaceutical) contains the same active ingredient, selamectin, at the same concentration and formulation as Revolution (Zoetis). Revolt is an FDA-approved generic alternative that offers comparable efficacy for the same indications. Both are manufactured in the USA and are prescription-only products.

Q3: Can I bathe my dog after applying Revolt topical solution?

Ans: A bath or rinse given at least 2 hours after applying Revolt will not weaken flea or heartworm protection at all. Getting the dog wet before that 2-hour mark, though, can lower how well the product works, so holding off on any water contact is the safer call.

Q4: How does Revolt selamectin spot-on work to prevent heartworm in dogs?

Ans: After being applied to the skin, selamectin is absorbed into the bloodstream where it clears Dirofilaria immitis larvae picked up in the past 30 days before they grow into adults. Monthly application keeps protection consistent, but gaps of more than 2 months during heartworm season can reduce how well it works.

Q5: What is the minimum age for using Revolt topical parasiticide on dogs?

Ans: Revolt can only be used on dogs and puppies that have turned 6 weeks old; it must never be applied to any puppy younger than this. It should also not be given to sick, underweight, or debilitated dogs at any age, as product safety for these animals has not been confirmed.
