AeroHippus Aerosol Chamber for Horses

The AeroHippus chamber is like a breath of fresh air for your horse, helping to manage equine asthma, bronchitis, airway disease, heaves, and other respiratory conditions. Created in collaboration with Tufts University's Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, this chamber is made specifically for horses and delivers inhaled medications directly to their lungs. How it Works

The AeroHippus Chamber is designed for horses to work with metered dose inhalers (MDIs). The AeroHippus Chamber captures and holds the medication in the chamber until your horse breathes it in.

1. Mask keeps a tight seal- Comes with a mask designed for horses that fits tightly over just one nostril, which helps keep them calm and ready for their dose. 

2. Chamber holds the medication- The chamber is designed to hold medication longer for horses that may initially hold their breath, enabling you to puff the medication then position the mask.

3. Flow-Vu indicator helps count breaths- The patented Flow-Vu indicator shows you that your horse is taking their medication correctly, whether there’s a proper mask seal and how many breaths they’re taking.

Fitting Your Horse

There is one mask size for all horses. The mask should cover only one nostril.

How to Use

Equine asthma is treated like asthma in humans – with corticosteroids to reduce inflammation and often bronchodilators to open the airways up during an asthma attack.

Since horses can’t use a puffer or metered dose inhaler the same way humans do, they need a chamber, also called a spacer, with a mask.

There are many ways to help your horse get used to using their inhaler and AeroHippus Chamber like positive reinforcement and treats. The AeroHippus Chamber also allows you to “puff” the inhaler medication into the chamber away from your horse to avoid making a sound your horse may not understand or like.

How to Clean

• Do not boil, sterilize, or clean in a dishwasher
• For cleaning of the inhaler, follow the instructions supplied with the inhaler
