Lantus Insulin
Lantus is a brand of insulin used to treat diabetes mellitus. An insulin glargine is a type of insulin that is structurally identical to, but not, human produced insulin Lantus is designed to be longer lasting than other insulins, lasting up to 24 hours (however, in dogs it typically does not last more than 16 hours). Like all other forms of insulin, Lantus is taken subcutaneously (an injection) and can be a critical part of treating your dog or cat’s diabetes. Insulin is a hormone that works by lowering levels of glucose (sugar) in the blood.

Storage Instructions
Store unused Lantus vials in the refrigerator between 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). Store opened Lantus vials in a refrigerator or at room temperature below 86°F (30°C). Do not freeze Lantus. Keep Lantus out of direct heat and light. If a vial has been frozen or overheated, throw it away. Lantus vials should be discarded after 28 days, even if it still has insulin left in it.
