Famotidine Injection is veterinarian prescribed medication use to treat cats and dogs experiencing gastric, intestinal, or stomach ulcers. It can also provide relief for dogs experiencing kidney failure and its related inflammation of the stomach and gastric reflux. Famotidine is an anti-ulcer medication. It is part of what is known as the histamine receptor-2 blocker class. The stimulation of stomach cells and their cell membranes occurs because of H-2 receptors, which leads to gastric acid secretion. Ulcers are able to heal using this medication, as it prevents the secretion of gastric acid through the H-2 receptors being blocked. The medication is also available in tablet form.
