Instructions

• Clogged airstones usually cause airflow loss. They become blocked as algae, floating debris, and mineral deposits accumulate in the pores over time. If you notice a diminished airflow, blow through the airstone yourself. If this is difficult, replace the airstone.
  
• Worn diaphragms or other rubber parts can also diminish airflow.
  
• Clean the outside of the pump with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
  
• Pump mechanism never needs oil.

Basic Installation: Place the Whisper Air Pump on a surface lower than the water level of the terrarium. To avoid damage for accidentally spilled water, do not place the pump directly below the terrarium. Use a check-valve between the pump and the terrarium. It helps stop water from siphoning into your air pump in case of an electrical power failure or when removing filters from terrariums.

Above-Tank Installation: Place the Whisper Air Pump on a shelf at least 12 inch higher than the water level of the terrarium, but not directly above the terrarium. NOTE: The shelf should have a raised edge to prevent the pump from sliding off.

Custom Installation: Use a Whisper Air Pump with 2 ports for alternate installation. NOTE: Use a Tee connector with your 2-port Air Pump for applications that require only one source of air. Air-control valves create multiple air sources. Use the valves to route the air from the Whisper Air Pump to different tanks, filters, air stones or air-operated ornaments. Adjust the air-control valves to regulate air supplied to tanks, filters, air stones and air-controlled ornaments. On 3-way valves, Knob 1 regulates airflow to Nozzle 3, and air flows through Outlet 2 unimpeded. Use end caps at the end of the line.

FAQs

What does “non UL” mean?
This product is Non UL, meaning it is not Underwriters Laboratories approved, which are standards for cable and wiring. Low voltage items do not require UL inspection.

Does it come with tubing?
This pump does not include tubing. You will need air line tubing, a check valve, and an air stone, bubble wand or ornament. Air pumps don't come with these items because there are so many variations and ways of providing air to the tank or installing an accent.

How am I able to hook up three airlines to this product?
The size 060 and Size 100 have 2 air ports while the other sizes have only one. There is no way to hook up three lines to these pumps.

I have the one for the 100 gallon. Wondering if I can only connect one airline or both have to be connected. I feel like if I connect only one the other side still blows air, or is there anyway to shut/close the other airline?
While this Pump has 2 air ports, it is possible to just use 1. Simply place the tubing on the port you'd like and the other air port will not be active.

How many watts of pump take?
This pump draws 2.5 watts.

Can you use it for a five gallon tank?
At this time, Tetra does not produce an air pump for tanks smaller than 10 gallons.

Are these pumps ok for turtle aquariums?
This air pump is suitable for tropical freshwater, marine invertebrate, and marine fish.

How many liters per minute is each port on the 100?
The Whisper 100 produces 3.3 l/min.

Can I use the 100 gallon pump with a 35 gallon tank?
The 40-gallon pump would work for a 35-gallon tank.

What size is needed for a 46 gallon tank?
A 60 gallon is good for 41 to 55 gallon tanks.

Do you have to keep the pump machine inside the tank?
This air pump should not be placed inside your tank. It can be connected to various aquarium equipment. They have enough strength to power long decorator air stones, multiple air stones in one or more tanks, and even protein skimmers for salt water aquariums.

Is this a double Outlet pump?
The Whisper 60, 100 and 300 are all two port models. Pick a pump based on the size tank you own and what you want to attach the pump to, not the number of ports. You can always buy a flow manifold or gang valve to have more ports.

Can I use a 3/16" tube with this filter?
All sizes of this air pump use standard size air line tubing, which is 1/8" or 3.175 millimeters.

Does this item take batteries or need to be plugged into an outlet ?
This pump is powered using a cable and electrical outlet and does not require batteries.

Is there an adjustable flow?
The pumps do not have an adjustable air flow. The flow rate varies by pump size and ranges anywhere from .5 to 3.3 l/min.

Does Chewy sell a check valve, such as is needed for use with this air pump?
At this time, we do not carry a check valve.

Does it bring the cable??
This pump does not include tubing. You will need air line tubing, a check valve, and an air stone, bubble wand or ornament.

Can I use this for my 5 gallon?
These pumps can handle the aeration needs of aquariums from 10 to 100 gallons.

How many watts is the 10?
The 10-gallon pump uses 1.5 watts.

Can you put the pump in the tank if uh oi wanted to?
The pump is not designed to get wet. The pump needs to be installed outside of the tank and in a spot where it won't accidentally get spilled water on it.

Hi there! What is the best filter for this pump??
The Tetra Whisper Non-UL Air Pump can be used with any filter. it's recommended to select a filter that works best for your specific aquarium.

I run a Betta rescue and have a 20 gallon and five 15 gallon tanks, each housing a single Betta, and I use sponge filters in each tank. I have tubing and check valves so a single pump can be used, but my question is, what size should I use for all of the tanks (current can't be too strong)? 
It's recommended to use one pump per tank.

How many air ports come with the size 40?
The size 040 has 1 air port.

Does this pump come with a check valve? or does it need to be purchased separately?
This product does not include a check valve.
