Eight Months of Odorless, Water-Resistant Flea and Tick Protection

Product Description

The PetArmor Extend Flea and Tick Collar delivers up to eight continuous months of protection against fleas, ticks, and lice without a prescription. Imidacloprid and flumethrin active ingredients are gradually released through a polymer matrix, spreading into the dog's skin and coat via the natural lipid layer. Eliminates and deters fleas and ticks through direct contact. Odorless and non-greasy formula.

Features

  • Kills and repels fleas, ticks, and lice
  • Kills flea larvae
  • Works through contact
  • Odorless and non-greasy formula
  • Fits under regular collar

Benefits

  • Kills Without Biting: Imidacloprid and flumethrin work through contact, meaning fleas and ticks are killed and repelled before they bite your dog, not after.
  • Breaks the Flea Life Cycle: The collar targets flea larvae in addition to adult fleas, disrupting the flea life cycle before new adults can develop and re-infest your dog and home.
  • Odorless and Non-Greasy: The formula leaves no smell or chemical residue on the dog's coat, making it more comfortable for daily wear and for households sensitive to pesticide odors.
  • Water-Resistant Protection: The collar remains effective through rain, bathing, and routine water exposure, maintaining protection without needing to be removed or replaced after getting wet.

Variants

Available in two sizes:

How to Use

Usage Instructions

  • Remove from packaging: Take the collar out of the protective packaging and stretch it to its full length before fitting; small tabs from storage will fall off or can be pulled away.
  • Fit around the dog's neck: Place the collar around your dog's neck loosely enough to allow two fingers between the collar and the neck; a too-tight fit causes discomfort.
  • Trim excess length: After fitting, cut off any excess collar length, leaving one to two inches past the buckle for future adjustments as the dog grows or weight changes.
  • Wear it continuously: The collar must be worn at all times for uninterrupted protection; removing it for extended periods reduces effectiveness and may allow protection to lapse.
  • Replace at eight months: Remove the used collar and replace with a new one after eight months to maintain continuous protection; do not layer a new collar over an old one.

Additional Information

Care Instructions

  • Do not remove for bathing: The collar is water-resistant and does not need to be removed during bathing or swimming.
  • Inspect the collar monthly: Check the collar monthly for any significant wear, cracking, or damage that could affect how well it sits against the dog's skin and coat.
  • Wash hands after handling: Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling, fitting, or adjusting the collar to avoid accidental skin or eye contact with the active ingredients.

Safety Information

  • Not for cats: Do not use this collar on cats under any circumstances; the active ingredient flumethrin is toxic to cats and can cause serious adverse reactions.
  • Not for puppies under 7 weeks: Do not apply to puppies younger than seven weeks old; consult your veterinarian before use if the puppy's age or weight is uncertain.
  • Do not use with other pesticides: Do not combine this collar with other flea and tick treatments, spot-ons, or pesticide products unless specifically directed by your veterinarian.
  • Sensitivity monitoring: If your dog shows signs of sensitivity after fitting, such as excessive scratching, redness, or behavioral change, remove the collar immediately and bathe the dog with soap and water.
  • Keep away from children: Do not let children play with the collar or handle it unsupervised; the collar contains pesticides and contact should be minimized for non-users.
  • Consult vet for at-risk dogs: Consult your veterinarian before using on debilitated, aged, pregnant, nursing, or medicated dogs to confirm this collar is appropriate for their health status.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: How long does one collar last?

Ans: Each collar lasts up to eight months when worn consistently. Once that window is up, take it off and put a fresh one on, don't add the new collar on top of the old one. Swap them out to keep protection running without a gap.

Q2: How do the active ingredients work?

Ans: The collar uses a polymer matrix that slowly releases imidacloprid and flumethrin over eight months. These are distributed across the dog's skin and coat via the natural lipid layer. Imidacloprid kills fleas through the nervous system, and flumethrin repels and kills ticks before they bite.

Q3: Do fleas and ticks have to bite my dog to be affected?

Ans: No. The active ingredients work through contact, not through a bite. Fleas and ticks are killed or repelled when they come into contact with the dog's treated coat and skin, before they have the opportunity to bite and potentially transmit disease or cause irritation.

Q4: Is this collar safe to use on puppies?

Ans: Yes, for puppies seven weeks and older. Do not use on puppies younger than 7 weeks. If you are unsure of the puppy's exact age, consult your veterinarian before applying the collar to confirm it is appropriate for the puppy's current stage of development.

Q5: Can my dog wear this collar in the rain or during baths?

Ans: Yes. The collar is water-resistant and does not need to be removed for bathing, swimming, or rain exposure. The protection remains effective through routine water contact. Frequent or prolonged submersion may reduce effectiveness over time, so monitor protection levels if the dog swims regularly.

Q6: How quickly does the collar start working?

Ans: The collar starts working 24 hours after you put it on. After that, new fleas that come into contact with your dog's coat are killed within two hours. Tick protection kicks in at 48 hours. The full coverage builds up gradually as the active ingredients spread across the coat and skin over the first few days.

Q7: Can this collar be used alongside other flea treatments?

Ans: Don't stack flea and tick products without checking with your vet first. Adding another topical, oral treatment, or a second collar on top of this one raises the total pesticide load on your dog, which can push it past safe levels. Your vet can tell you what is and isn't safe to combine.
