Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the tetracycline family. It efficiently combats bacterial infections in dogs and cats, effectively treating a range of conditions like leptospirosis, toxoplasmosis, mycoplasma, and various tick-borne diseases such as Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Doxycycline targets a wide range of bacteria and has potent antimicrobial properties that effectively combat potentially harmful microbes like Wolbachia, Dirofilaria immitis, E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and many more. As a member of the tetracycline family, Doxycycline works by inhibiting protein synthesis and altering the permeability of the cytoplasmic membrane in susceptible organisms, effectively fighting off bacterial and microbial infections.

Possible Side Effects

The most commonly reported symptoms have included nausea and diarrhea, which are minor. If you observe more severe reactions like facial hives, swelling of the lips or tongue and difficulty breathing, immediately discontinue use and contact your veterinarian, as these may be signs of an allergic reaction.
