Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What does Native Pet Gutwell Clean Breath do?

Ans: Gutwell Clean Breath is a daily pellet supplement designed to target the source of bad breath by supporting good oral bacteria. Prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics, brown algae and zinc are included to support periodontal health and help reduce plaque, tartar and biofilms.

Q2: How many scoops should I give my dog?

Ans: Begin with the maintenance amount for seven days then increase to advanced support until results appear. A 40 lb dog receives two scoops at maintenance and four scoops at advanced support, then returns to two scoops for ongoing daily use.

Q3: At what age can puppies have Clean Breath?

Ans: Gutwell Clean Breath is suitable for any dog over three months old. Puppies vary in size and grow quickly so follow the weight-based serving chart carefully, and consult your veterinarian with any dental concerns before starting a new supplement for your puppy.

Q4: How many calories are in each scoop?

Ans: Each scoop of Gutwell Clean Breath provides about 18.3 kcal. A 40 lb dog receiving two scoops daily would get about 36.6 kcal from the supplement, in addition to its regular meals, so consider this when planning daily calories for your dog.

Q5: How does Clean Breath freshen breath?

Ans: Bacteria in the mouth produce volatile sulfur compounds that cause bad breath. Probiotics and postbiotics in Clean Breath support good oral bacteria and help reduce biofilms. These are manufacturer claims, and no studies are cited so ask your veterinarian about dental care.

Q6: Can I combine Clean Breath with other supplements?

Ans: Do not combine multiple GutWell products at once, and do not use Clean Breath with Wondergland or Pumpkin, because added fiber may upset the stomach. Consult your veterinarian before combining it with your dog's medications, dietary changes or other fiber supplements.

Q7: Who formulated Native Pet Gutwell Clean Breath?

Ans: Gutwell Clean Breath was developed by Dr. Dan Su, MS, DVM, DACVIM (Nutrition), a board-certified veterinary nutritionist. All Native Pet supplements are formulated with board-certified veterinarians, so you can feed this daily dental supplement to your dog with added confidence.

Q8: What does Clean Breath taste like?

Q10: Is Clean Breath safe for daily use?
