Comprehensive Treatment for Respiratory and Bacterial Infections

Macrosyn (Tulathromycin) Injection is a potent, long-acting antibiotic designed to treat and control various bacterial infections in livestock. FAQs - Macrosyn (tulathromycin) Injection

What is so special about Macrosyn (Tulathromycin) Injection?

Macrosyn stands out for its long-acting, broad-spectrum action against respiratory and bacterial infections in cattle and swine. With a single dose providing up to 14 days of disease control, it offers effective treatment for conditions like BRD, pinkeye, and SRD. This minimizes the need for repeated dosing, reducing animal stress and saving time for livestock handlers.

Can Macrosyn be used in combination with other antibiotics?

Using Macrosyn with other antibiotics is generally discouraged due to the risk of drug interactions and potential side effects. Always consult a veterinarian before combining medications to ensure safe and effective treatment.

How quickly does Macrosyn start working?

Macrosyn begins to act within hours of administration. Tulathromycin, the active ingredient, is quickly absorbed and distributed to affected tissues, helping to alleviate symptoms and control infections within the first 24 hours.

Is Macrosyn safe for pregnant animals?

Macrosyn's safety in pregnant cattle and swine has not been fully evaluated, so its use should be approached with caution. A veterinarian should assess the risks and benefits based on the animal's specific health needs before administration.

How should Macrosyn be stored?

Store Macrosyn in a cool, dry place between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F), and protect it from light. Keep the vial tightly sealed, and discard any remaining product after the expiration date as per veterinary guidelines.

What is the withdrawal period for meat after using Macrosyn?

After using Macrosyn in cattle, a withdrawal period of at least 18 days is required before slaughter for meat. For swine, the withdrawal period is 5 days. Always consult a veterinarian to confirm specific withdrawal timelines.

Can Macrosyn be used to treat infections in other animals besides cattle and swine?

Macrosyn is only approved for use in beef and non-lactating dairy cattle as well as swine. It is not indicated for use in other animal species, and alternative antibiotics should be considered under a veterinarian's guidance for other livestock.

Does Macrosyn require refrigeration after opening?

Macrosyn does not require refrigeration, but it should be kept at room temperature, ideally between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). Ensure the bottle is closed securely after each use to maintain potency.

How does Macrosyn compare to other antibiotics for BRD and SRD?

Macrosyn offers a unique single-dose, long-acting solution that many other antibiotics don’t provide. Its 7-14 day effectiveness reduces the need for repeated treatments, which can be more convenient and less stressful for animals and handlers.

Can Macrosyn be used in lactating dairy cows?

Macrosyn is not recommended for lactating dairy cows or for female dairy cattle over 20 months of age due to potential milk contamination risks. Consult a veterinarian for safe antibiotic alternatives suitable for dairy-producing animals.
