Canine Addison's disease, also known as hydroadrenocorticism, is a disease which negatively impacts a dog's adrenal glands, causing them to not work properly. What this means is your dog's adrenal glands will experience difficulty producing the hormones and chemicals necessary to help regulate metabolism, blood pressure, and stress response in their bodies. If my dog has Addison's disease, what can this medication help prevent?
If untreated, Addison's disease in canines has the potential to produce life-threatening effects such as hypotensive shock and prerenal azotemia. Treatment with Zycortal Suspension helps lower the risk of your dog suffering from these potentially lethal conditions. Zycortal also helps build sodium absorption and potassium excretion as well as increasing extracellular fluid. This results in expanded blood volume and improved cardiac output.
