SMZ-TMP (Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim) is a cherry-flavored oral suspension used to treat various infections in multiple species. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic in liquid form with a cherry flavor. Make sure to provide the animal being treated with adequate fresh water to prevent the formation of crystals in the urine.

Possible Side Effects

Possible side effects in dogs may include a reduction in appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. More severe potential side effects may include dry eye, inflammation of the liver with yellowing of the skin and eyes, fever, anemia, hives, joint swelling, facial swelling, increased thirst and urination, and gall bladder issues.
