Monthly Topical 6-in-1 Parasite Protection for Large Dogs (55.1–88 lbs)
Product Description
Advantage Multi Topical Solution (Blue) is a prescription monthly spot-on for dogs and puppies between 55.1 and 88 pounds. It pairs Imidacloprid (10%) with Moxidectin (2.5%) to fight six parasites in one monthly tube. It covers heartworm prevention, flea control, sarcoptic mange, and intestinal worms including roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. Dogs and puppies from 7 weeks old, weighing a minimum of 3 pounds, can be treated with this product.
Benefits
- Prevents Heartworm Disease: Moxidectin gets absorbed through the skin and keeps working all month, giving large dogs steady protection against heartworm larvae.
- Reduces Microfilariae Levels: One of the few topical preventives that helps lower circulating heartworm microfilariae in dogs already testing positive for the infection.
- Kills Fleas on Contact: Imidacloprid travels through the skin's natural oil layer and kills adult fleas before they ever get the chance to bite your dog.
- Stops Flea Infestations: Re-infesting fleas die within 3 to 5 minutes of contact, and egg-laying is disrupted, keeping full-blown infestations from taking hold.
- Controls Sarcoptic Mange: Targets the mites behind sarcoptic mange, which large dogs often pick up at grooming facilities, dog parks, or boarding kennels.
- Clears Roundworm Infections: Takes care of adult Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina roundworm infections in large dogs with each monthly dose.
- Clears Hookworm Infections: Works against Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense, and Uncinaria stenocephala hookworms at multiple stages of their life cycle.
- Clears Whipworm Infections: Also handles Trichuris vulpis whipworm infections, rounding out full intestinal parasite coverage in one spot-on application.
- Holds Up Against Water: Protection stays effective 60 minutes after your dog goes for a swim and 90 minutes after a bath, great for active large breeds.
- Flexible if a Dose is Late: If you miss the monthly window by a few days, simply apply right away and continue your regular monthly schedule from there.
- Safe From 7 Weeks Old: Cleared for use in puppies as young as 7 weeks, provided they weigh at least 3 pounds at the time of application.

How to Use
Directions for Use
- Prescription Only: This is an FDA-licensed prescription product and can only be dispensed through or under the direction of a licensed veterinarian.
- Apply Once a Month: Empty the full contents of one tube onto your dog's skin once every month, ideally on the same date each time.
- Correct Monthly Dose: The right amount is at least 4.5 mg/lb (10 mg/kg) imidacloprid and 1.1 mg/lb (2.5 mg/kg) moxidectin per application.
- Step 1 – Open the Tube: Take one applicator tube out of the packaging. Keep it pointing upward and pull the cap off.
- Step 2 – Break the Seal: Flip the cap around and press its other end firmly onto the tip of the tube. Twist until the seal breaks, then remove the cap fully.
- Step 3 – Find the Right Spot: Ask your dog to stand still. Separate the fur between the shoulder blades until you can see the skin clearly.
- Step 4 – Apply Along the Back: Press the tip against the skin and squeeze the full contents across three or four spots along the backline, starting at the base of the neck and moving toward the upper back. Choose spots your dog cannot reach to lick. Do not apply so much in one spot that it drips off the side.
- Skip Broken or Irritated Skin: Do not apply the solution to any area of skin that is cut, raw, or inflamed in any way.
- For Mange Treatment: A single monthly dose is the standard approach; your veterinarian may recommend a second application the following month if needed.
- For Dogs Over 110 lbs: Your veterinarian will advise on the right combination of tubes to reach the correct total dose for your dog's weight.
- If You Miss a Dose: Apply as soon as you remember and carry on with the regular monthly schedule from that point; never apply two doses at once.
Disclaimer: This dosage information is provided by the manufacturer. Always consult your veterinarian before administering or adjusting any medication for your pet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What parasites does Advantage Multi (Blue) protect large dogs against?
Ans: Advantage Multi (Blue) covers six parasites in one tube: heartworm larvae, circulating microfilariae in already-infected dogs, adult fleas, flea infestations, sarcoptic mange mites, and intestinal worms including roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. It does not cover ticks.
Q2: How does the Blue Box for 55.1–88 lb dogs differ from the Red Box for smaller dogs?
Ans: The Blue Box holds 400 mg imidacloprid and 100 mg moxidectin in a 4 mL tube. The Red Box holds 250 mg and 62.5 mg in a 2.5 mL tube. Both provide the same protection. Always pick the box that fits your dog's current weight.
Q3: How does this spot-on treatment compare to oral heartworm preventives for large dogs?
Ans: This topical solution absorbs through the skin and provides month-long heartworm protection without a tablet. It also handles fleas, intestinal worms, and sarcoptic mange in the same application, and it is one of the few products that can reduce microfilariae levels in heartworm-positive dogs.
Q4: What should I do if my large dog licks the treated area?
Ans: Swallowing this product can cause muscle tremors, poor coordination, drooling, and dilated pupils. Get your dog to a veterinarian or emergency clinic straight away. After applying, keep your dog away from the treated spot for at least 30 minutes and separate it from other pets during that time.
Q5: Is Advantage Multi (Blue) safe to use if my large dog has already been diagnosed with heartworms?
Ans: This product cannot kill adult heartworms. Dogs with a confirmed infection should complete adulticide treatment first. However, it is one of the few topicals indicated to reduce microfilariae in heartworm-positive dogs. Your veterinarian should plan the timing of both treatments carefully.
