Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is TrizEDTA and how does it support pet ear health?

Ans: TrizEDTA is a buffered solution of Tromethamine and Disodium EDTA at pH 8. It works as an antibacterial flush, alkalinizing solution, and antibiotic potentiator, helping cleanse the ear canal, raise skin pH, and break down inflammatory discharge for better treatment outcomes.

Q2: Can the flush be used in both dogs and cats?

Ans: Yes, the solution is formulated for use in both dogs and cats as a cleaning, alkalinizing, and pretreatment solution. It is also commonly used for puppies and kittens when directed by a veterinarian, making it versatile for multi-pet households.

Q3: How often should the flush be applied?

Ans: Typically applied 2 to 3 times per week as needed, or as directed by your veterinarian. Frequency depends on the condition being treated, severity of issues, and whether the flush is used alone or as a pretreatment with other medications.

Q4: Can the flush be used with antibiotic ear medications?

Ans: Yes, when used with antibacterial ear medications, apply the flush approximately 30 minutes before the antibiotic. This pretreatment helps break down inflammatory discharge in the ear and supports more effective absorption and action of the prescribed antibiotic.

Q5: Does the solution contain alcohol or dyes?

Ans: No, the formula is alcohol-free, dye-free, and fragrance-free. This makes it gentle enough for sensitive or irritated skin and ears, and suitable for pets with perforated eardrums when recommended by a veterinarian.

Q6: Is the flush helpful against Pseudomonas infections?

Ans: Yes, TrizEDTA buffer solutions are valuable as a long-term therapy for preventing the recurrence of Pseudomonas infection. They can be used as part of a regular ear cleaning regimen or as a presoak before placing antibacterial solution into the ear canal.

Q7: Can the product be used on skin, not just ears?

Ans: Yes, the multi-use formula can be applied to affected skin areas. Squeeze the flush over the affected area, then use a cotton ball to remove excess solution. Repeat as necessary or as directed by your veterinarian for optimal results.

Q8: How does the flush help with antibiotic effectiveness?

Ans: The TrizEDTA solution acts as an antibiotic potentiator. Alkalinizing the area and breaking down bacterial biofilm allows antibiotics applied afterward to penetrate more effectively, improving the overall outcome of antibacterial therapy in the ear canal.

Q9: How should the bottle be stored at home?

Ans: Store at controlled room temperature between 15 to 30°C (59 to 86°F) in a cool, dry location. Keep the cap tightly closed after each use and store it out of reach of children and other animals to maintain product integrity.

Q10: Are there any known side effects?

Ans: There are no known side effects when used as directed. However, if skin irritation develops or worsens during use, discontinue immediately and consult your veterinarian for guidance and alternative treatment options.
