Why should my dog get the Nobivac Canine DAPPvL2 vaccine?

This 6-in-1 vaccine protects against some of the life-threatening diseases that may afflict a canine, such as Leptospirosis, which is acquired through water and wildlife that may be contaminated with the virus.

How often does my dog need to be vaccinated?

Puppies start their vaccinations at 6-8 weeks, followed by a booster in one year, then annual revaccination, which is important for continued protection, especially against Leptospirosis.

Dosage & Administration:

Transfer the contents of the sterile diluent vial to the Nobivac Canine 1-DAPPvL2 vial aseptically. Mix gently until dissolved. Inject one dose (1mL) subcutaneously or intramuscularly. The initial dose may be given at 6 weeks of age or older. Repeat dose 2 to 4 weeks later. Two doses are required for primary immunization.

The presence of maternal antibodies is known to interfere with the development of active immunity in dogs and additional boosters will be required in most young animals. Historically, annual revaccination has been recommended for this product. The need for this booster has not been established. For more information on revaccination frequency, in general, or in the face of maternal antibodies, consult your veterinarian or the manufacturer.

Precautions:

  • Store at 2° - 8°C (35°-46°F).
  • Do not freeze.
  • Use new, non-chemically sterilized needles and syringes.
  • Do not mix with other products, except as specified on the label.
  • Inactivate unused contents before disposal.
  • In case of human exposure, contact a physician.

Warnings:

  • Contains gentamicin and thimerosal as preservatives
  • Vaccinate only healthy, non-parasitized dogs.
  • Do not vaccinate pregnant bitches.
  • The use of a biological product may produce anaphylaxis and/or other inflammatory immune-mediated hypersensitivity reactions. Antidote: Epinephrine, corticosteroids, and antihistamines may all be indicated depending on the nature and severity of the reaction.
  • The age at which maternal antibody for canine parvovirus no longer interferes with the development of active immunity varies according to the bitch’s titer and the number of colostral antibodies absorbed by the puppy.

FAQ

For what is Nobivac Canine DAPPvL2 Vaccine used?

It protects against six major canine diseases, namely:

  • Canine Distemper Virus (CDV)
  • Adenovirus Type 1 & 2 (CAV-1, CAV-2)
  • Parvovirus (CPV)
  • Parainfluenza Virus (CPiV)
  • Leptospira canicola
  • Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae

How is the vaccine administered?

Nobivac Canine DAPPvL2 Vaccine is for subcutaneous injection by a veterinary surgeon.

At What Age?

Puppies: A series of vaccinations starting no earlier than 6 weeks of age, with boosters every 3-4 weeks until at least 16 weeks of age.

Why is L2 protection so important to the dogs?

L2 - This is a vaccination against leptospirosis. It is caused by water, soil, and urine from infected wildlife. These may cause disease in the kidneys or liver and can be transferred to humans; hence, this vaccination is usually necessary in certain high-risk locations.

Does my indoor dog need this vaccine?

Although strictly indoor dogs have a lower risk, they still can get infected through contaminated water, soil, and exposure to rodents and wildlife. If you live in a region with a high incidence of leptospirosis, vaccination is recommended.

What Are The Side Effects of Vaccinations?

Most dogs tolerate the vaccine very well, with some showing mild side effects: temporary lethargy, very slight fever, or swelling at the site of injection. These are usually self-limiting and not serious but should be checked immediately by a veterinarian.
