Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Do these chews actually help with bad dog breath?

Ans: These soft chews are recommended to support fresh breath, using peppermint and clove oils, natural essential oils that help freshen breath. If your dog's bad breath is persistent or sudden, have your veterinarian check their mouth, since it can have other causes.

Q2: How many breath chews should I give my dog a day?

Ans: The right amount depends on your dog's current body weight. The manufacturer recommends one soft chew per day for dogs up to 25 lbs, two soft chews for dogs 26 to 75 lbs, and three soft chews for dogs over 75 lbs.

Q3: Why do these breath chews contain peppermint and clove oil?

Ans: Peppermint oil and clove oil are natural essential oils included to help freshen your dog's breath. Each chew contains 6 mg of peppermint oil and 4 mg of clove oil, measured amounts set by the manufacturer for this formula. Follow label amounts.

Ans: Yes. According to the product details, these soft chews contain no grain, gluten, corn, soy, artificial colors, or artificial flavors. The inactive ingredients include cane molasses, canola oil, dried potato, glycerin, natural pork flavor, potato starch, sunflower lecithin, and turmeric, among others.

Q5: Are these breath chews okay for dogs with food allergies?

Ans: The formula contains egg protein from ADEPPT and natural pork flavor. If your dog has any food allergy or sensitivity to either ingredient, check with your veterinarian before starting these breath chews or adding them to your dog's daily routine.

Q6: What is ADEPPT in PetsPrefer breath chews?

Ans: ADEPPT is PetsPrefer's proprietary blend of chitosan and egg protein. The manufacturer describes it as designed to help balance your dog's overall health by supporting a healthy gut microbiome and immune system, as well as the oral care ingredients in each breath chew.

Q7: Can I give these breath chews to my cat?

Ans: No. The manufacturer states these soft chews are for use in dogs only, and the dosing chart is based on canine body weight. If your cat has bad breath, ask your veterinarian about dental care options formulated specifically for cats.
