Eight-Way Core and Lepto Protection
Product Description
Recombitek C8 (rDAPP-LCGIP) is an eight-way canine vaccine that provides core viral protection, as well as coverage for four-strain leptospirosis. Reconstitute the lyophilized cake with the Lepto diluent, then give 1 mL subcutaneously to healthy dogs 9 weeks and older, followed by a second 1 mL dose in 3-4 weeks. It helps protect against distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, parvovirus, and LCGIP serovars.
Benefits
- 8-way Protection: Covers CDV, CAV-1, CAV-2, CPiV, CPV, and four Leptospira strains.
- Prevents Severe Disease: Helps guard against life-threatening viral and bacterial infections.
- Recombinant Immunity: The distemper component promotes strong protection with fewer adverse reactions.
- Lepto Defense: Aids in the prevention of leptospirosis and leptospiruria from LCGIP serovars.
- Puppy to Adult Use: Supports core and lifestyle disease prevention for dogs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What diseases does Recombitek C8 (rDAPP-LCGIP) cover?
Ans: Recombitek C8 (rDAPP-LCGIP) vaccinates dogs against canine distemper, adenovirus type 1 (hepatitis), adenovirus type 2, parainfluenza, parvovirus, and four leptospirosis serovars: Canicola, Grippotyphosa, Icterohaemorrhagiae, and Pomona.
Q2. What is the minimum age to start this vaccine?
Ans: The vaccine is indicated for healthy dogs starting at 9 weeks of age. Puppies younger than 9 weeks may not respond adequately, so beginning at the labeled age helps establish reliable immunity during early puppyhood.
Q3. Is this an injection or an intranasal vaccine?
Ans: Recombitek C8 is administered by subcutaneous injection only. After reconstitution with the supplied Lepto diluent, a full 1 mL dose is injected subcutaneously using aseptic veterinary technique.
Q4. What is the primary vaccination schedule?
Ans: Give one 1 mL subcutaneous dose to a healthy dog, then repeat a second 1 mL subcutaneous dose 3-4 weeks later. Young dogs may need additional boosters due to maternal antibody interference.
Q5. How long does protection last?
Ans: Duration of immunity is established for the Grippotyphosa leptospira fraction at least 15 months. For the remaining fractions, the duration is not specified on the label, so a veterinarian should determine booster timing.
Q6. What side effects can occur after vaccination?
Ans: In rare instances, dogs may show lethargy, fever, or inflammatory/hypersensitivity reactions. Transient lethargy, pain, or swelling at the injection site can also occur and usually resolves with monitoring and veterinary care.
Q7. Can the vaccine be used in pregnant dogs?
Ans: The product has not been tested in pregnant animals. If a pregnant dog requires vaccination due to exposure risk, a veterinarian should assess the benefits and timing before administering Recombitek C8.
Q8. How should the vaccine be stored and handled?
Ans: Store refrigerated at 2-8°C and never freeze. Do not chemically sterilize syringes or needles. Use the entire reconstituted dose immediately and discard any unused contents properly.
Q9. Does the vaccine protect against leptospiruria as well as leptospirosis?
Ans: Yes. The label indicates effectiveness against leptospirosis and leptospiruria caused by Leptospira Canicola, Grippotyphosa, and Icterohaemorrhagiae, and as an aid against Pomona-associated disease and shedding.
