How does Recombitek KC2 compare to other kennel cough vaccines?
Due to this being an oral formulation, it is stress-free compared to injectable or intranasal vaccines and thus offers effective immunity without causing discomfort to the dog.
How often should my dog receive the Recombitek KC2 vaccine?
Puppies can be vaccinated as early as 8 weeks of age. Annual boosters are recommended for protection, especially in social and high-risk dogs.
Dosage & Administration:
Rehydrate the vaccine cake to the desired dose volume with the accompanying sterile diluent.
- For a 0.5 mL dose, reconstitute the dry vaccine with 0.5 mL (one-half) of the diluent.
- For 1 mL dose, reconstitute the dry vaccine with 1 mL of the diluent.
Shake well and use immediately.
Field safety studies support the safety of this product when administered to puppies as young as 3 weeks of age. Using an aseptic technique, immediately withdraw the rehydrated vaccine into the syringe. Use the enclosed applicator tip on the hub of the syringe in place of the syringe needle to administer the entire dose intranasally. Apply a new nasal applicator tip for each dog vaccinated. Historically, annual revaccination with this product has been recommended. The need for annual booster vaccination has not been established for this product. For advice on revaccination frequency, contact your veterinarian or the manufacturer.

FAQ
What does Recombitek KC2 protect against?
The Recombitek KC2 vaccine protects dogs against two major causes of kennel cough:
- Bordetella bronchiseptica, a primary bacterial cause of kennel cough
- Canine Parainfluenza Virus, CPiV, is a viral cause of respiratory infections
How is this vaccine administered?
This vaccine is given as an intranasal application-nose drop which simulates natural exposure and helps stimulate local immunity in the respiratory tract.
Who should receive this vaccine?
This vaccine should be given to dogs that go to boarding facilities, dog parks, grooming salons, daycare, training classes, or shelters since these increase their chances of kennel cough.
How often does my dog need this vaccine?
One dose provides protection; annual boosters are recommended to maintain immunity, especially in social dogs.
Are there any side effects?
Some dogs may show mild sneezing, nasal discharge, or temporary coughing shortly after vaccination. These usually disappear within a few days. Serious reactions are unusual.
Why use Recombitek KC2 instead of injectable Bordetella vaccines?
The intranasal route of administration allows the stimulation of stronger and quicker immunity right at the respiratory tract level where the infection of kennel cough takes place. It is also without needles and non-traumatic for dogs that do not like injections.
