FAQs
When should I deworm my dog?
Deworming puppies * After weaning, deworm your puppy at 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks of age.
Newly acquired dogs * Any new dog you acquire should be dewormed immediately. Repeat the treatment after two weeks.
Adult dogs * Deworm your adult dog at least twice a year. Although it’s true that dog intestinal parasites are less of a problem in adults than in puppies, dogs of all ages can be infected. Older dogs that are allowed to spend time outside run a greater risk of becoming infected.
Many adult dogs show no signs of infection, which makes it all the more important to make sure that you deworm your dog on a regular basis.
How do I calculate the dose of Safe-Guard® canine dewormer required for my 52-lb dog?
If your dog’s weight happens to be between the weights shown on the chart available on the package, you can safely give the dose recommended for the next size up.
For example, if your dog weighs 52 pounds, you can give one 2-gram and one 4-gram packet (for a total of two packets, or 6 grams) of Safe-Guard® Canine Dewormer once a day, for three consecutive days.
How will I know when my dog needs deworming again?
It is advised that you repeat the dog wormer treatment at least every six months.
