How to Use
Directions for Use
- Prescription Required: Only a licensed veterinarian can order or prescribe this drug under US regulations.
- Minimum Dose: The dose per tube is a minimum of 2.7 mg selamectin per pound (6 mg/kg), so the whole tube is used monthly.
- Open the Tube Correctly: Hold the tube upright with the expiration date visible at the bottom, then bend the tip backward until it snaps off.
- Apply at Base of Neck: At the neck just before the shoulder blades, part the fur and place the full contents directly on the skin.
- Apply Once Monthly: Administer every month for continuous heartworm prevention, flea control, and parasite protection throughout the year.
- Single Dose for Intestinal Worms: For roundworm and hookworm treatment, a single topical dose is sufficient; consult your veterinarian regarding the need for re-treatment.
- Wash Hands After Use: Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after application as selamectin may be irritating to human skin and eyes.
- Test for Heartworm Before Starting: All cats should be tested for existing heartworm disease before starting a heartworm prevention protocol with Senergy.
- Switching From Another Preventive: When replacing another heartworm preventive, give the first Senergy dose within one month of the last dose of the former product.
Disclaimer: This dosage information is provided by the manufacturer. Always consult your veterinarian before administering or adjusting any supplement for your pet.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What does Senergy Topical (Blue Box) treat and prevent in cats?
Ans: Senergy Blue Box is a once-monthly topical solution that prevents heartworm disease, kills adult fleas, and prevents flea egg hatching for one month. It also treats ear mites, roundworms, and hookworms. It is approved for cats and kittens 8 weeks or older weighing 5.1 to 15 lbs.
Q2: How does the Blue Box differ from the Mauve Box?
Ans: The Blue Box contains 45 mg of selamectin in a 0.75 mL tube for cats 5.1 to 15 lbs. The Mauve Box contains 15 mg in a 0.25 mL tube for puppies and kittens up to 5 lbs. Both provide the same parasite coverage at the minimum dose of 2.7 mg/lb selamectin.
Q3: Does Senergy Blue Box protect cats against ticks?
Ans: No. Unlike the dog formulations, Senergy cat formulations do not include labeled tick control. Senergy for cats covers heartworm prevention, flea control, ear mite treatment, and roundworm and hookworm treatment only. Consult your veterinarian for an appropriate tick prevention option for your cat.
Q4: Can Senergy Blue Box be used on breeding or pregnant cats?
Ans: Yes. Selamectin has been tested safe in pregnant and lactating females across over 15 cat breeds with no adverse effects observed. Safe use in breeding males has also been evaluated with no adverse effects reported. Before starting parasite prevention for breeding animals, always check with your veterinarian.
Q5: Can Senergy treat an active heartworm infection in cats?
Ans: No. Selamectin does not kill adult Dirofilaria immitis and is not intended for clearing microfilariae. All cats should be tested for existing heartworm before starting Senergy. If an active infection is detected, consult your veterinarian for appropriate treatment before initiating Senergy as a monthly preventive.
