Monthly Selamectin Spot-On for Parasite Protection in Extra-Small Dogs

Product Description

Senergy Topical Solution (Lavender Box) is an FDA-approved, prescription-only monthly spot-on for dogs and puppies 6 weeks or older weighing 5.1 to 10 lbs. Each carton comes with 3 single-dose tubes, each holding 0.25 mL (30 mg) of selamectin. One monthly application prevents heartworm disease, kills adult fleas, stops flea eggs from hatching, treats ear mites, controls American dog ticks, and treats sarcoptic mange. Safe for pregnant and lactating females.

Benefits

  • Prevents Heartworm Disease: Selamectin stops Dirofilaria immitis larvae from developing into adult heartworms when applied within one month of exposure.
  • Kills Fleas and Stops Infestations: Kills adult Ctenocephalides felis fleas and stops flea eggs from hatching, keeping your dog flea-free for a full month.
  • Treats Ear Mites: Clears Otodectes cynotis ear mite infestations in extra-small dogs with a simple monthly application.
  • Controls American Dog Ticks: Keeps Dermacentor variabilis American dog tick infestations in check in extra-small dogs and puppies with each monthly dose.
  • Treats Sarcoptic Mange: Clears and controls Sarcoptes scabiei infestations in extra-small dogs and puppies with each monthly dose.
  • Safe From 6 Weeks of Age: Approved from 6 weeks old and tested safe across more than 100 dog breeds, including pregnant, lactating, and avermectin-sensitive animals.
  • 3-Month Supply per Carton: Each Lavender Box comes with 3 single-dose tubes, so you have a full 3-month supply ready to go for year-round protection.

How to Use

Directions for Use

  • Prescription Required: US Federal law limits this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian only.
  • Minimum Dose: Apply the full contents of one tube once a month to meet the required minimum dose of 2.7 mg per pound (6 mg/kg) of body weight.
  • Open the Tube Correctly: Hold the tube upright with the expiry date facing down, then bend the tip back until it snaps off cleanly.
  • Apply at Base of Neck: Separate the fur at the back of the neck, just above where the shoulders meet, until the skin shows, then apply the full tube directly onto the skin.
  • Apply Once Monthly: Give one dose every month to keep heartworm, fleas, ticks, and other parasites under control throughout the year.
  • Wash Hands After Use: Always wash your hands well with soap and water after applying, as selamectin can irritate human skin and eyes.
  • Test for Heartworm First: Have your dog tested for heartworm disease before starting Senergy as a regular preventive.
  • Switching Products: Start Senergy no later than 30 days after your dog's last dose of the heartworm preventive you are switching from.
  • Missed Dose: If you forget a dose, go ahead and apply it the moment you realize, then continue with your usual monthly routine from that point.

Disclaimer: This dosage information is provided by the manufacturer. Always consult your veterinarian before administering or adjusting any supplement for your pet.

Additional Information

Precautions

  • Minimum Age: Do not use on puppies younger than 6 weeks old; safety in younger animals has not been studied.
  • Sick or Debilitated Dogs: Never apply Senergy to a sick, underweight, or debilitated dog, no matter their age or weight.
  • Not for Active Heartworm Infections: Selamectin does not kill adult heartworms, so always test and treat any existing infection before starting this preventive.
  • Gaps in Treatment: Skipping more than 2 months in a row during heartworm season puts your dog at a noticeably higher risk of picking up an infection.
  • Highly Flammable: Keep the tubes well away from heat sources, open flames, sparks, and anything else that could ignite them.
  • Eye Contact: If the solution gets into your dog's eyes or your own, flush the area right away with plenty of clean water.
  • Human Skin Sensitivity: Repeated or prolonged skin contact can trigger mild allergic reactions such as redness, itching, or hives; wear gloves and wash up after every use.
  • Dogs Only: The Lavender Box is made and dosed for dogs only; never use it on cats or any other animal.

Possible Side Effects

  • Hair Loss at Application Site: Some dogs develop temporary hair loss or clumping at the spot where the product was applied; this is a cosmetic effect and usually sorts itself out.
  • Digestive Upset: Vomiting and loose stools have been reported in some dogs; accidental licking of the application site may also cause drooling or mild vomiting.
  • Skin Reactions at Application Site: A small number of dogs show redness, irritation, or skin sensitivity at the treated area.
  • Hypersensitivity Reactions: Severe allergic reactions are uncommon but can happen; contact your vet straight away if your dog develops hives, facial swelling, or collapses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What does Senergy Topical (Lavender Box) treat and prevent in extra-small dogs?

Ans: Senergy Lavender Box is a once-monthly topical solution for extra-small dogs. It prevents heartworm disease, kills adult fleas, stops flea egg hatching for one month, controls American dog ticks, treats ear mites, and clears sarcoptic mange. Dogs & puppies from 6 weeks of age weighing between 5.1 and 10 lbs can be safely treated with this product.

Q2: How does the Lavender Box differ from the Mauve Box?

Ans: The Lavender Box holds 30 mg of selamectin per tube, which is double what the Mauve Box contains. The Mauve Box covers puppies and kittens up to 5 lbs, while the Lavender Box is made for dogs only in the 5.1 to 10 lb range. Both deliver the same minimum dose and cover the same parasites in dogs.

Q3: How does selamectin in Senergy work to protect extra-small dogs?

Ans: Once applied to the skin, selamectin is absorbed into the bloodstream. It stops heartworm larvae from maturing, kills adult fleas, prevents flea eggs from hatching, and disrupts the nervous systems of ear mites, American dog ticks, and sarcoptic mange mites, giving your dog a full month of broad parasite protection.

Q4: Can Senergy Lavender Box be used on breeding or pregnant extra-small dogs?

Ans: Yes. Selamectin has been tested safe in pregnant and lactating females across more than 100 dog breeds with no problems noted. Safe use in breeding males has also been studied with no adverse effects found. That said, always check in with your vet before starting any parasite prevention program for breeding animals.

Q5: Can Senergy be used to treat an active heartworm infection in extra-small dogs?

Ans: No. Selamectin does not kill adult heartworms and is not designed to clear an existing infection. Always test your dog before starting Senergy. If an active infection is found, your veterinarian will need to complete heartworm treatment first before Senergy can be used as a monthly preventive going forward.
