Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What does TruFel Ultra HC2P Hybrid Vaccine for Cats help protect against?

Ans: TruFel Ultra HC2P Hybrid Vaccine for Cats is intended for healthy cats 8 weeks and older to support protection against feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia. These core diseases can contribute to serious respiratory and systemic illness.

Q2: What makes the calicivirus coverage different in TruFel Ultra HC2P Hybrid Vaccine for Cats?

Ans: TruFel Ultra HC2P Hybrid Vaccine for Cats contains two feline calicivirus strains and is intended to induce a cross-neutralizing antibody response against multiple calicivirus isolates. Dual-strain coverage supports broader immune recognition across diverse strains.

Q3: What is the dose volume and route for the vaccine?

Ans: The vaccine is administered as a 0.5 mL subcutaneous dose using aseptic technique. Each dose is prepared by aseptically rehydrating the vaccine with the accompanying sterile diluent, then administered by a veterinary professional.

Q4: What is the initial vaccination schedule for healthy cats?

Ans: Healthy cats typically receive two doses administered 3 to 4 weeks apart. For kittens younger than 16 weeks of age, the final dose should be scheduled no earlier than 16 weeks to support an effective immune response.

Q5: Why does the final kitten dose need to be at or after 16 weeks?

Ans: Maternal antibodies can interfere with the development of active immunity in kittens. Administering the final dose at or after 16 weeks helps reduce maternal antibody interference and improves the likelihood of a protective immune response after vaccination.

Q6: Are boosters needed after the primary vaccination series?

Ans: Booster needs depend on the cat’s age, exposure risk, and veterinary judgment. Historically, annual revaccination has been recommended, but the need for ongoing boosters should be determined in consultation with a veterinarian based on individual risk.

Q7: Can the vaccine be used in pregnant cats?

Ans: TruFel Ultra HC2P Hybrid Vaccine for Cats should not be used in pregnant queens. Cats that are breeding, pregnant, or medically complex should be evaluated by a veterinarian to select an appropriate vaccination plan and timing.

Q8: How should TruFel Ultra HC2P Hybrid Vaccine for Cats be stored and handled?

Ans: Store the vaccine in the dark at 2°C to 8°C, avoiding freezing. Shake well before use, use the entire contents when first opened, and do not mix with other products unless the label specifically permits it.
