Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What parasites does Profender treat in cats?

Ans: Profender Topical Solution is indicated for the treatment and control of common intestinal parasites in cats, including hookworms, roundworms, and tapeworms. It works against multiple life stages of these worms, providing broad-spectrum parasite coverage when applied as directed by a veterinarian.

Q2: How often should Profender be applied to cats?

Ans: Profender is typically administered as a single topical dose based on body weight, and one treatment is usually sufficient. If reinfection occurs, the product may be reapplied after thirty days under veterinary guidance to maintain parasite control and ensure continued protection for the cat.

Q3: Where should I apply Profender to my cat?

Ans: Profender should be put right on the skin at the base of the cat’s head after parting the hair. This location stops the cat from licking the product, while also allowing for effective absorption through the skin.

Q4: Is Profender safe for kittens?

Ans: Profender is approved for use in kittens that are at least eight weeks of age and weigh at least 2.2 pounds. Its safety has not been evaluated in younger or smaller kittens, so veterinary consultation is recommended before administering the product to young cats.

Q5: Do I need a prescription to buy Profender?

Ans: Yes, Profender is a prescription veterinary medication in the United States and is restricted to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
