Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: How many pests does this topical treatment protect against?

Ans: This formula provides five-way protection, repelling and killing fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, biting flies, and lice in one monthly application. It targets all life stages of fleas and ticks, making it one of the broadest-coverage topical treatments available for large dogs.

Q2: How quickly does this treatment kill fleas after application?

Ans: The formula kills existing fleas on dogs within 12 hours of application. Reinfesting fleas are killed within 2 hours, and protection against further infestation lasts at least 4 weeks. Monthly reapplication is required for continuous flea and tick control.

Q3: Which tick species does this treatment protect against?

Ans: It repels and kills Deer Ticks that may transmit Lyme disease, American Dog Ticks that may transmit Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Brown Dog Ticks that may transmit Ehrlichiosis, and Lone Star Ticks that may also transmit Ehrlichiosis for up to four weeks per application.

Q4: Why is this treatment dangerous for cats?

Ans: The formula contains permethrin, a synthetic pyrethroid that is highly toxic to cats and can be fatal if applied to them or ingested. Treated dogs must be kept away from cats for 24 hours after application, and the product must never be applied to cats under any circumstances.

Q5: Does this treatment repel mosquitoes as well as fleas and ticks?

Ans: Yes, permethrin in this formula repels and kills mosquitoes for up to four weeks per treatment, preventing mosquitoes from blood-feeding on treated dogs. This added coverage makes it especially valuable for dogs that spend significant time in outdoor or wooded environments.

Q6: Is this treatment waterproof after application?

Ans: Yes, the formula is fully waterproof and remains effective after bathing, swimming, rain, and exposure to sunlight. However, the dog must stay completely dry for 24 hours immediately after application to allow the product to properly absorb into the skin.

Q7: Can this treatment be used on puppies?

Ans: It is approved for use in dogs and puppies at least 7 weeks old and weighing at least 21 lbs. Do not apply to younger puppies or those below the minimum weight, as doing so may cause adverse reactions or serious harm.

Q8: What should I do if my dog shows a reaction after application?

Ans: If side effects such as skin irritation, lethargy, or agitation appear, consult a veterinarian immediately. For emergencies, call 1-833-571-1532, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Have the product container on hand when calling for the most accurate guidance.

Q9: Can pre-existing flea pupae in the environment still hatch after treatment?

Ans: Yes, pre-existing flea pupae in the environment may continue to emerge for six weeks or longer, depending on climatic conditions. Year-round monthly treatment is the most effective way to prevent reinfestation from environmental flea stages and outdoor exposure.

Q10: Can this product be used alongside other pest control treatments?

Ans: Do not combine with other pesticide products containing permethrin, imidacloprid, or pyriproxyfen. Overdosing can cause serious illness. Consult a veterinarian before using this treatment alongside any other flea, tick, or pest control product on the same dog.
