Monthly Selamectin Spot-On for Heartworm, Fleas, Ticks and Mange in Large Dogs

Product Description

Revolt Teal Box is an FDA-approved monthly topical treatment for dogs and puppies 6 weeks or older weighing 40.1 to 85 lbs. Each dose includes 2.0 mL (240 mg) selamectin, the same active ingredient used in Revolution for Dogs, offering 6-in-1 parasite control. It prevents heartworm disease, kills adult fleas, prevents flea egg hatching, treats ear mites, treats sarcoptic mange, and controls American dog tick infestations.

Benefits

  • Prevents Heartworm Disease: Selamectin prevents Dirofilaria immitis larval development into adult heartworms when administered within one month of exposure to infective larvae.
  • Kills Fleas and Prevents Eggs: Kills adult Ctenocephalides felis fleas and prevents viable flea eggs from hatching for one full month, breaking the flea life cycle.
  • Treats Ear Mites: Treats and controls Otodectes cynotis ear mite infestations in large dogs; a second monthly dose may be required in some dogs.
  • Treats Sarcoptic Mange: Treats and controls Sarcoptes scabiei infestations in large dogs; a second monthly dose may be required in some dogs.
  • Controls American Dog Ticks: Controls Dermacentor variabilis American dog tick infestations in large dogs with each monthly application.
  • Waterfast After 2 Hours: Bathing or shampooing 2 or more hours after application does not reduce effectiveness against fleas or heartworm prevention.
  • Safe in Avermectin-Sensitive Breeds: In studies on avermectin-sensitive Collies, doses of 1, 3, and 5 times the recommended level resulted only in salivation.
  • Equivalent to Revolution for Dogs: Contains the same selamectin as Revolution for Dogs, providing equivalent protection at a more accessible price point.

How to Use

Directions for Use

  • Prescription Required: Only a licensed veterinarian can prescribe or authorize use of this drug under US law.
  • Minimum Dose: Apply topically once monthly, providing a minimum of 2.7 mg selamectin per pound (6 mg/kg) of body weight.
  • Open the Tube Correctly: Hold the tube upright and twist the cap to break the seal; the cap remains on the tube during application.
  • Apply at Base of Neck: Move the hair aside at the neck in front of the shoulder blades so the skin is visible, then apply it directly to the skin.
  • Squeeze Firmly 3 to 4 Times: Firmly squeeze the tube 3 to 4 times in a single place until it is empty, keeping it pressed on the final squeeze so liquid doesn't return.
  • Do Not Massage or Wet Coat: Never massage the product into the skin and never apply when the dog's coat is wet; allow to dry naturally.
  • Ear Mite and Mange Dosing: For ear mites and sarcoptic mange, a single topical dose is administered; a second monthly dose may be required in some large dogs.
  • Apply Once Monthly Year-Round: Administer every 30 days year-round for continuous heartworm prevention and flea and tick control.
  • Test for Heartworm Before Starting: Dogs should be tested for heartworm disease before starting Revolt; dogs with adult heartworms can safely receive Revolt.
  • Missed Dose: Apply the missed dose right away when remembered, return to the regular monthly schedule, and contact your veterinarian.

Precautions

  • Minimum Age: Do not use in dogs or puppies younger than 6 weeks of age; safety below this threshold has not been established.
  • Sick or Debilitated Dogs: Never apply Revolt to sick, debilitated, or underweight dogs regardless of their age or current body weight.
  • Heartworm Testing Recommended: Annual heartworm testing is recommended before prescribing a preventive; dogs testing positive can still safely receive Revolt.
  • Breeding, Pregnant, and Lactating Dogs: Selamectin has been tested safe in breeding, pregnant, and lactating dogs; always consult your veterinarian before use.
  • Avermectin-Sensitive Breeds: In dogs with the MDR1 mutation, accidental oral ingestion can cause ataxia; ensure the product is not ingested after application.
  • Gap in Treatment: Gaps of more than 2 months in administration during heartworm season significantly increase the risk of infection.
  • Flammable Product: Keep tubes away from heat, open flames, sparks, and all sources of ignition at all times.
  • Human Skin and Eye Irritant: Revolt may irritate human skin and eyes; wash hands thoroughly after handling and flush eyes with water if contact occurs.

  • Gastrointestinal Signs: Vomiting, diarrhea, and decreased appetite have been reported in dogs following treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What does Revolt Topical Solution (Teal Box) treat and prevent in large dogs?

Ans: Revolt Teal Box is a once-monthly 6-in-1 topical solution that prevents heartworm disease, kills adult fleas, prevents flea egg hatching for one month, treats ear mites, treats sarcoptic mange, and controls American dog tick infestations. This is for dogs and puppies aged 6 weeks and up, weighing 40.1 to 85 lbs.

Q2: How does the Teal Box differ from the Red Box?

Ans: The Teal Box contains 240 mg of selamectin in a 2.0 mL tube for large dogs. The Red Box contains 120 mg in a 1.0 mL tube for medium dogs. Both provide identical 6-in-1 parasite protection at the same minimum dose of 2.7 mg/lb. Always use the tube matching your dog's current body weight.

Q3: How does selamectin in Revolt work to protect large dogs?

Ans: Selamectin goes through the skin into the blood, where it affects parasite nerve activity, preventing heartworm development and eliminating ear mites, sarcoptic mange mites, and American dog ticks. It also spreads to the skin to kill fleas and prevent flea eggs for 30 days.

Q4: Is Revolt Teal Box safe for breeding, pregnant, or lactating large dogs?

Ans: Selamectin has been evaluated in 100+ dog breeds, including breeding males, pregnant and nursing females, and avermectin-sensitive Collies, with no harmful effects at the recommended topical dose. Always consult a veterinarian before use in breeding animals.

Q5: Can Revolt be used on large dogs that have already tested positive for heartworm?

Ans: Yes. Selamectin was administered at 3 times the recommended dose to heartworm-infected dogs with no adverse effects observed. Dogs with adult heartworms can safely receive Revolt monthly to prevent further infections. Revolt does not eliminate existing adult heartworms; consult your veterinarian regarding adulticide treatment for current infections.
